Do you ever have those moments where you doubt yourself? Of course you do. After all, we are human beings and not robots. Think about it. If you don’t believe in yourself, it becomes very challenging to expect anyone else too. In fact, it becomes so obvious as it comes across in so many ways like tone of voice, actions, and body language.
So what do we need to do to help us maintain a healthy “belief” in ourselves”? There is no magic formula, but the more positive you are with the people around you, the better.
Like anything in life, to get better you must practice, practice, practice. There are great books, videos, podcasts, and audiobooks depending on whether you prefer to read or listen to material.
One of my favourite speakers is Anthony Robbins. Some of the observations he makes are mind blowing and really get you to think in a different way. Sometimes a subtle shift in your thinking makes all the difference.
Plenty of people meditate and there is some great material available. I must admit I was always dismissive of meditation until about three years ago when I tried it. I was amazed at how different I felt, especially while using it to help me sleep.
All successful people have the mindset to maintain a consistent “belief in themselves” and work at it everyday, so don’t think they’re more special than you – they’re not. They practice as well. Many allow at least 15 minutes to 2 hours a day.
The environment you work in makes a huge difference. Surround yourself with successful and like-minded people and guess what? You think like a successful person. The different ways of training your mind to have “belief” vary from person to person, but one thing I can guarantee you is that the greater the belief you have in yourself, the greater the results you will achieve.
Having built and sold my SME, I now work with SMEs. I understand their model by embedding myself in the senior management team so I feel the heartbeat of the business. All areas are covered, but the four questions that we work on solving are: How do I grow my business?, How do I achieve client excellence?, How do I make more profit?, and Does my business model deliver?
